1479-1542 Italian Dosso Dossi Locations Italian painter of the Ferrarese school, whose real name was Giovanni di Niccolo de Luteri. He may have been a pupil of Lorenzo Costa, but was certainly influenced by Giorgione, Titian, and Raphael. He often collaborated with his brother Battista, a landscape painter. Dosso Dossi is first recorded in Mantua, but after 1514 he executed many decorative works for the ducal palace and churches of Ferrara, including frescoes, pictures, and cartoons for tapestries. Both his landscapes and portraits show originality and imagination. He was a friend of Ariosto, who mentions him in Orlando Furioso. Juan Martin Cabezalero
1633-1673 was a Spanish draftsman and painter. Born in Almaden, he studied under Juan Carreno de Miranda, court painter to Charles II of Spain; Cabezalero lived at Carreno de Miranda's house until 1666. Both he and Carreno were influenced by Van Dyck. Few works by Cabezalero have survived. His surviving works include his St Jerome (1666, Meadows Museum, Southern Methodist University, Dallas) and the Assumption of the Virgin (ca. 1670; Madrid, Prado). The latter had been formerly attributed to Mateo Cerezo, also a pupil of Carreno de Miranda. Antonio Palomino praises Cabezalero's modest, studious nature and laments that he died young.

(Januar 1846 in Döhlau bei Hof (Oberfranken); 8. Oktober 1937 in Ansbach) war ein deutscher Maler. Alt war der Sohn des Döhlauer Pastors Heinrich Alt und dessen Ehefrau Justina Ziegler. Nach erstem Unterricht durch seinen Vater besuchte Alt die Lateinschule in Regensburg, wo sein Vater von 1856 bis 1870 der evangelischen Gemeinde vorstand. 1861 wechselte er an die Kunstgewerbeschule N??rnberg, wo er als Schuler von Hans Ringlein bis 1863 blieb. Im Spatsommer desselben Jahres wechselte Alt mit Empfehlung seiner Lehrer an die Kunstakademie in M??nchen. Dort wurde er zuerst Sch??ler von Hermann Ansch??tz und in den Jahren 1866 bis 1873 bei Arthur von Ramberg.
Johann anton ramboux
German, 1790 - 1866 German painter, draughtsman and museum curator. He was taught drawing by Jean-Henri Gilson (1741-1809), before he went to Paris for further training in the studio of Jacques-Louis David. In 1812 he returned to Trier, painting portraits until 1815, when he spent a year at the Akademie der Bildenden K?nste in Munich. In 1816 he went to Rome, where he was part of the Nazarene circle without becoming a member of the Lukasbr?der. Close association with these artists, notably Peter Cornelius, Carl Philipp Fohr and Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld, had a more lasting influence on Ramboux's artistic development than his earlier studies with David
